There was no stream last week as I had a late life modelling booking just outside of town. I left a little early as I remembered the bus route there took me along the white cliffs of Saltdean, leading towards Seven Sisters, which appear on the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla map.
I stopped to take some photos, and later on returned to my earlier online walk, comparing the footage from both:
I also took some 3D scans in the area, such as this one. (I use the Trnio app, which is very low-cost and great fund to play with.)
The merging of the game footage and in-person location was exciting- additionally, this was my first enjoyable walk, thanks to a couple of weeks walking with my specially-made insoles, designed to correct my gait and (hopefully) alleviate the achilles tendonitis that has developed in my legs. These insoles were *insanely* expensive- it has taken me months to scrape together the final cost. (I will never get over how expensive it is to manage chronic illness and disabilities, which aren’t exactly life choices!?)
So, with the help of these insoles, walking is feeling a little easier lately. I still will have arthritis in my toe forever, and I struggle with hills and stairs in particular, but with the insoles and the warmer weather returning, I’m hoping I will be able to enjoy short walks outside of video games once more! Next stop is an electric bike conversion kit.
It might be fun to visit some more AC:V locations in-person, but in the meantime, there’s no stream tonight whilst I reflect on the project so far and see where things may go next. I’m in the process of exploring Assassin’s Creed: Origins, so perhaps some Ancient Egypt walks might be on the cards?
For now, here are some light experiments from the Lightform Lab films I created last week:
In other creative news, I’m in the process of putting together my first DYCP application- nerve-wracking, but with the current cost of living crisis, I can’t realistically sustain and develop my practice without funding, so it’s crunch-time!
Plus, here’s some dates for your calendar of fun things I’m doing/involved in:
Fri 31 March: TRASHDANCE at The Rossi Bar - my long-running club night returns!
Sun 11 June: ‘Life drawing; The Surrealists and other strange phenomena’ - Delighted to be bringing this AMi and Drawing Room collab event to Worthing, for the brand-new Worthing Festival! We’re big Surrealism lovers, so this should be great fun.
